Hackney Wedding // Layla & Richard
A hot summer day of feasting, drinking, and partying. Layla and Richard’s laid back Hackney wedding was a celebration of friends, family, good food, and good music. They started the day with an intimate ceremony for family and close friends at Hackney Town Hall. After this, there was an Ottolenghi lunch on the deck of the (now closed) Hackney night club, Giant Steps at Swan Wharf. Located in Hackney Wick, Swan Wharf is a huge Victorian warehouse complex on the edge of the canal, with an outside terrace, and they were treated to the most glorious August sunshine for the entire day.
Later in the afternoon, more friends joined them for food, cocktails, and then later in the evening, cake, speeches, champagne and dancing. As you can imagine, with the venue being a nightclub, the inside space set aside for the party was amazing. Layla is a DJ and had a few of her friends there spinning the tunes for the party. They opened the dancefloor with their first dance and a giant confetti cannon; such a great way to kick off the party.
Intimate Ceremony & Colourful, Relaxed Warehouse Party
I love unique London wedding venues, and this one was no exception. It was the ideal space for Layla and Richard to create the day they wanted, and it was a real pleasure to photograph. If you’d like this laid back, documentary style of photography for your wedding, please get in touch.
