Marylebone Town Hall Weddings
Marylebone Town Hall is a large, impressive building on Marylebone Road, the location of many a celebrity wedding, and custodian of some of London’s most iconic steps. The building of the town hall started in 1914 with a design by architect Sir Edwin Cooper. The First World War put a temporary halt to the building work, and it was finally completed in in 1920. War played its part again, sadly, when the main council chamber was badly damaged in the Second World War. Like many a London town hall, it survived, had a major face lift, and continues to be the location of choice for many a London wedding today. As a London wedding photographer, it’s a town hall I work at regularly, and I’ll share some of my knowledge with you below.
I’m an experienced documentary wedding photographer with more than 17 years experience of documenting weddings in London. Ceremony rooms at Marylebone Town Hall
Below I’ve listed all of the ceremony rooms at Marylebone Hall and how many guests each room accommodates. The town hall has a fantastic website, A Day To Remember, which shows you all of the rooms and the cost of a ceremony in each. As with all London town halls, the day of the week and the time of the ceremony will affect the price. It sounds quite obvious, but a ceremony on a Saturday afternoon in peak season will cost more than a Monday – Thursday slot out of peak wedding season. The ceremony photos here are all taken in the Westminster Room, which is the largest of all the ceremony rooms. It’s a beautiful, dark wood panelled room with large windows. If you’re having a smaller wedding but love the wood panelled look, take a look at the Marylebone or Paddington rooms which are similar, but smaller. All of the other rooms have a more modern look, with lighter decor.
- The Westminster Room – 100 guests.
- The Knightsbridge Room – 30 guests.
- The Mayfair Room – 30 guests.
- The Pimlico Room 20 guests
- The Soho Room – 13 guests
- The Marylebone Room – 12 guests
- The Paddington Room – 8 guests

Some useful information for Marylebone Town Hall Weddings
The price varies with each room, the time of year, and the day of the week. The best way to get an accurate price is by going on their website and selecting the type of ceremony you want, the room you want to marry in, and the date you want to get married. Some example pricing is below:
– A Saturday in December 2026 in the Westminster Room is £1753
– A Saturday in March 2027 in the Westminster Room is £1188
– A Saturday in July 2027 in the Westminster Room is £1698
You can check your date and preferred room here. These examples are accurate as of February 2026.
Yes, providing it’s biodegradable. That means no rice, plastic, or metallic confetti, and no confetti canons. You can also pre order the town hall’s own confetti.
30 minutes before. This is to allow time for your interview prior to the ceremony. Guests can arrive 30 minutes before the ceremony, and no later than 15 minutes before the ceremony is due to start.
No, you need to arrive dressed and ready for action! There is a powder room for touch ups before the ceremony.
Access is provided through an adjoining building. A member of town hall staff will assist and a form needs to be completed in advance of the day.
Ceremonies typically last 15-20 minutes. You will have some time afterwards for a few photos in the building before the confetti. Note that time on the steps is extremely limited, due to multiple ceremony rooms and multiple weddings finishing at a similar time to each other, so keep your group shot list to a minimum. Ceremony times are staggered and the staff work hard to make sure everyone has their special moment on the steps, but you’ll need to be mindful of other weddings, and keep in mind that you will see other couples arriving or leaving for their wedding. Chat to your photographer about how to utilise the time and what is achievable.
Marylebone and Baker Street are the closest stations and taxis can stop outside (drop off only, no waiting). If you are hiring a Routemaster, it can pull up outside the town hall to whisk you and your guests off after the ceremony. Speak to your bus hire company to arrange.
Yes! Well behaved cats and dogs are allowed. Someone will need to be assigned to take care of them and any mess will need to be cleaned up 🙂
You’re in good company if you choose to get married at Marylebone Hall. The venue has hosted many an A-lister wedding, including two Beatles -Sir Paul McCartney (in the 60’s to Linda, and in 2011 to Nancy Shevell) and Ringo Starr in the 80’s. Liam Gallagher (twice – to Pasty Kensit in 1997 & Nicole Appleton in 2008) Antonio Banderas & Melanie Griffith.

Wow! These are brilliant. Made us cry on the northern line when your email came through. The day was absolutely perfect for us and we’re feeling so content with it.

You were fantastic, thanks so much.
Having your ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall and looking for a reception venue?
The Union Club is a short distance away and this Soho private member’s club is an absolute gem. Set in a quirky town house, it’s a great choice for creative couples who want something unusual and ‘un-weddingy’. Very unassuming from the outside, painted dark red and nestled between the bars and restaurants on Greek Street, the inside is an eclectic labyrinth of higgledy piggledy rooms filled with unique art, open fires, and comfy sofas.

Marylebone Town Hall Wedding
This is a great central London town hall that’s so well located for many reception venues. Many couples choose to have a ceremony at the town hall then head to one of London’s pubs for a reception. The Elgin in Maida Vale is a popular (and excellent!) choice. The town hall has a number of rooms to choose from so it’s suitable for an intimate wedding or civil partnership or a larger one. Not the best town hall for outside space as the steps lead straight onto a pavement then the main road, but there’s certainly enough space for your confetti and a few photos behind those iconic stone columns. If you want more outside space and a town hall set back from the road, I’d recommend looking at Islington, Stoke Newington, and Hackney Town Halls. You can find links to these town halls at the end of this post.

Marylebone Town Hall, or Old Marylebone town Hall as it’s also called, was closed between 2014 and 2018 for a a huge refurbishment. Skilled craftsmen and architects worked on it and it’s been lovingly and painstakingly brought back to life. The rooms in the town hall are absolutely stunning and will provide an elegant and classy backdrop to your wedding ceremony.
