The George Inn Alfriston Wedding // Laura & Matthew
Frosty pavements and bright blue skies, roaring log fires, toasted marshmallows, food, family, friends and a party that went on til the small hours. This was Laura and Matthew’s winter wedding at the cosy and characterful pub, The George Inn, nestled in the lovely Sussex village of Alfriston. A 14th century pub full of wonky ceilings, dark wood beams and fireplaces so large you can walk inside them (and still not be able to touch the top in my case). Laura and Matthew chose to hold their wedding in this pub for no greater reason other than they loved it, and it’s easy to see why. Despite the many things it has going for it, being able to get married there is not one of them, so the legal part of the day was held in The Star, an equally beautiful pub just across the road from The George.
Cosy, Winter Pub Wedding
Watched by their family and friends, vows were spoken, tears were shed and registers signed and then it was back over to The George for nibbles and drinks in the myriad of cosy corners warmed by open fires. Dinner was peppered by speeches, which were full of emotion, laughter and some hilarious photos shown by the best men. On to the party, DJ Glen Herbert was in charge of the tunes and boy was he good. The dance floor was jumping, quite literally, all night. Those who wanted conversation stayed chatting in the bar, and those who wanted to shake their booty did so fuelled by Tequila and, um, Chas and Dave. Laura and Matthew are a lovely couple, with great family and brilliant friends, and their wedding was a joy to be a part of. These are some favourites from their day.

Love your work Lyndsey – real raw power, no fuss. This is a beautiful set.
Love how you’ve used the lowlight, cosiness of the venue to maximum effect. Great cameracraft. Especially love the monochrome reflection of the bride’s radiant smile during speeches. Top stuff, Lyndsey.
Fab wedding photos. Black and whites are great.
