ROYAL MILITARY ACADEMY SANDHURST WEDDING // CARLA & RICHARD
A Royal Military Academy Sandhurst wedding, on an icy cold day at the end of November. Carla got ready at The Aviator Hotel in Farnborough with her mum, sister, and bridesmaids. (An amazing hotel with the coolest staircase. I took one of my favourite ever photos of Carla walking down the stairs.) Once the girls were ready, we took taxis to Sandhurst for the ceremony which was held in the college’s Royal Memorial Chapel, complete with full military choir. A beautiful and grand chapel, the heating was not exactly matched to the day, the first really cold one of last winter, and everyone was pleased to get inside the main academy building and warm up with some canapés and drinks. The Royal military Academy in Sandhurst is where all officers in the British army, of which Richard is one, are trained to take on the responsibilities of leading the soldiers under their command. It’s a very impressive building, the walls adorned with medals and historic artworks, and the room the drinks reception was held in was stunning; a square room with chandeliers, a chequerboard tiled floor and beautiful paintings. A truly lovely setting for a winter wedding. On to dinner and speeches, Carla’s dad and the groom’s three brothers had plenty of stories about both of them, and had everyone in stitches. Following dinner was the cutting of the cake with an impressive military sword and then the dancing. A lovely day down in Sandhurst at this very special venue, with a great couple.
