13 May 2013 – A Year of Wedding Photography
2013. What a year! It started on a cold, crisp January day in west London, and finished on a cold, crisp December day in east London. Lex and Liam eased me into the year gently with their wedding at The Petersham and 6 St Chad’s Place, a thousand handmade yellow paper cranes suspended from the ceiling heralding the start of the new year, and I waved goodbye to 2013 at Kate and James’ Royal Inn on the Park wedding, a good old fashioned boozer complete with roaring log fires and twinkling fairy lights. It was a varied year in terms of location and venue, and, for want of a better word, ‘theme’; the originality of my couples never ceases to amaze me. I ventured north to Bradford to document Erin and Indy’s day, an eclectic fusion of afternoon tea, curry, a zombie killers wedding cake and Bollywood dancing; I headed west to spend the day with Debbie and Ian at their Dorset wedding, with barrels of beer, hay bales and a garden full of buddleia and butterflies; east to Norfolk under a blazing July sky to document Annabelle and Pablo’s garden party wedding, with a ceremony conducted by a kindly vicar and his guide dog, and south to Brighton to capture the intimate wedding of Ali and Nick, with a ceremony and lunch at Hotel du Vin for a select few, followed by a huge party at The Terraces, with homemade cake and cocktails, which lasted well into the small hours. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting some amazing venues I’ve not worked at before, including Shustoke Farm Barns for Georgie and Chris’ wonderful summer wedding, Sherborne Castle for Sarah and Andrew’s pastel coloured celebrations, and Latimer House for Louise and Tim’s elegant wedding, and a real pleasure to revisit some of my favourite venues, including 6 St Chad’s Place, Lime Wood and Riseholme.
Wonderful weddings with wonderful couples; a big thank you to Lex & Liam, Alanna & Phil, Kate & Indy, Omra & Jo, Danielle & Steven, Soph & Ol, Holly & Jonathan, Erin & Indy, India & Karim, Vanessa & Jon, Julina & Drew, Cindy & Michael, Nilgun & Mark, Dilveer & Mark, Annabelle & Pablo, Gemma & Sean, Louise & Tim, Debbie & Ian, Georgie & Chris, Sarah & Darryl, Ali & Nick, Angie & Matt, Cheyenne & Thomas, Sarah & Andrew, Gillian & Mike, Sonia & Justin, Christina & Laurence, Vicky & Keith, Karen & Sam, Susy & Sarah, and Kate & James and all their families and friends for making 2013 such a great year. A selection of my favourite images from 2013 are below, and I would love to hear which ones are your favourites
