Ritzy Cinema Brixton Wedding // Laura & Max
When it comes to great London wedding venues, so many are of them are entirely unique, and none more so than the stage in Screen 1 at Brixton’s Ritzy Cinema. This was the setting for Laura and Max’s wedding on a hot Saturday in June 2018. The day was incredibly chilled out and was representative of them as a couple; I am a big fan of couples doing things their way when it comes to their wedding day. There was popcorn for the ceremony (naturally), a wonderful short film of photos of the two of them together over the years, and a montage of famous football goal celebrations as they were announced husband and wife (a nod to their shared love of the beautiful game). The ceremony finished with a group singalong to ‘Bring Me Sunshine. Just brilliant.
A drinks reception took place on the rooftop, with nibbles by Elvira’s Secret Pantry, before it was time to take some Routemasters down to Stanley Halls in West Norwood. This Edwardian Arts venue is a great space for a relaxed wedding reception; long tables and a red velvet curtained stage perfect for speeches. Dinner was antipasti and delicious woodfired pizzas provided by the Pizza Project. The evening party kicked off with some musical wizardry by the excellent Disco Freaks. Some parties you just don’t want to leave, and this was one of them.
The last mention must go to Laura’s black velvet jumpsuit. More brides with this much originality and sass, please!

Laura & Max – Ritzy Cinema Brixton Wedding Photography
“The photos are absolutely incredible! We really love them (and have spent most of a rainy afternoon in Osaka sheltering and drinking sake and watching the film over and over!) The storytelling throughout is just fantastic – so lovely to relive the day again. They’re all brilliant. Those taken in the cinema screen have just come out wonderfully too – amazing how you did so much with such little light.

Each time we go through them we seem to spot something else we didn’t see the time before! The different layers of depth, detail and composition are just brilliant. We love the colours and the way you’ve used some of the photographic collages as backdrops in the Ritzy, and the shapes of the building at Stanley Halls. The way you shoot people is absolutely brilliant – we feel like you really capture the essence of everyone’s character as we know them, but in addition, your eye also so effortlessly highlights so many fantastic textures and light details in other parts of the image as well which make them so rich. We’ve really loved the whole process of working with you and will treasure the photos forever!

How cool to get married in a cinema! I just love love love the images of Stuart Pearce and Alex Ferguson in the background of their first kiss!
It was a very cool place to get married! I’m pleased you know who those footballers are because I don’t 😉
As above, love the first kiss shot – though I wouldn’t have a clue who the footballers were myself!
