Devonshire Arms Hotel Wedding in Yorkshire // Suzie & Charles
The Devonshire Arms Hotel is a stylish, 17th century hotel nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park near the majestic ruins of Bolton Abbey. A lovely location for a winter wedding, in a really beautiful part of country. Suzie and Charles held their wedding at The Devonshire Arms on a chilly Saturday in November, where there was a frost on the ground and bright blue skies. Everything took place under one roof, and I joined Suzie and her bridesmaids as they got ready in the morning. Suzie looked stunning in a vintage lace gown whilst her bridesmaids looked elegant in black satin. Charles and his ushers cut a dash in black tie. The hotel was filled with white roses and the wedding had a feel of old time, vintage glamour and luxury. Once the girls were ready, it was time for the ceremony, which featured readings accompanied by dinosaur puppets, and much laughter. Afterwards, there were canapés and champagne, and, fortified by the alcohol, we braved the bracing winds for some portraits. There was a real chill in the air so the open fires in the hotel provided some welcome warmth afterwards.
On to dinner and speeches, before guests retired to the hotels various bars and lounges for some relaxation and cocktails before the evening party got started. The band, Soul Education, formerly known as The White Keys, were one of the best I’ve seen and they had a more than up for it crowd to perform to. Their version of Estelle’s ‘American Boy’ was amazing, and props to their sax player who rapped the whole thing word for word without pausing for breath. Take that, Kanye! A great day with great people, some favourites from Suzie & Charles’s winter wedding at The Devonshire Arms Hotel are below
