Best wedding photography 2022

Another year, another “Best Of ” Wedding Photography post. Believe it or not, 2022 is the 11th year I have created one of these posts for! I’d like to think I’ve honed my technique over the years (improving like a fine wine and all that), although my approach and mantra has remained the same. “Don’t stage moments, observe carefully, and keep your finger – literally and metaphorically – on the trigger. ” So, let’s crack on with a little summation of my 2022 and my favourite photos from the year, shall we?

2022 was the year things started to get back to some kind of normality. No restrictions, although many of the weddings I shot in 2022 should have taken place in 2020, and some had been postponed multiple times. Some of my couples had even had babies in the interim. So whilst the pandemic created heartache, it also created the need for another little place at the table. Silver linings.

There were so many highlights of 2022, and I was witness to some incredible moments, all over the UK and abroad. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some truly magical places to photograph weddings over the years, and 2022 was no exception, with trips to Puglia and the USA. Bec & Luke’s wedding in New Orleans will be burned in my memory forever and The Big Easy will always have a piece of my heart.

Another great year for industry recognition, the biggest accolade was being crowned Wedding Photographer of the Year in the UK by the Masters of Wedding Photography. In addition to the Masters, I made it on to the following lists: Top 100 Photographers in the World 2022 for Fearless Photographers // The Top 100 Photographers in the World 2022 for ISPWP (one of just two UK photographers to make this list) // Top 25 Wedding Photographers Worldwide 2022 for Wedding Photojournalist Association //  Top 20 Storytellers in the World for This Is Reportage.

The awards are great, and allow me to share my favourite images with a wide audience. However, they are not a patch on the thrill I get from actually taking the photos. Each wedding is a blank canvas with a unique story just waiting to be told. Massive thanks to all my 2022 couples for trusting me to tell your story. You rock.

We feel so privileged to have had you be such an integral part of our day and you have captured the spirit and narrative perfectly – there is nothing more we could have asked for.
You have been an utter joy to work with on this. I found planning this wedding quite a challenge and working with you was really lovely from our first chat through to your presence on our day. You are skilled in so many ways and we feel so lucky to have met you and worked with you on our wedding. From the very bottom of our newly married hearts, thank you and we love you.

  1. Year after year you nail it! It’s easy to see why you win all the awards! layered images with storytelling perfection, moments others miss and perfect use of natural light Amazing!

  2. One of the best in the business for a reason, an absolutely stellar round-up dude! So many favourites but top ones for me are the poet (love the stillness and light in that), the Bride in the car with the reflection (love the extra element of the groom waving), and the Bride getting ready (love how you sneaked yourself in there 😀 ). Can’t wait to see what you see in 2023 x

  3. Such beautiful work Lyndsey, every composition and every moment. I so loved looking through this blog – it felt like I’d just stepped into an art gallery!
