Cadogan Hotel Wedding // Lorraine & Mac
The Cadogan Hotel in Knightsbridge was once home to Lillie Langtry, consort to King Edward VII, and the London address of Oscar Wilde. Now a small boutique hotel, Lorraine and Mac hosted their intimate wedding lunch there in the spring of 2014. Prior to the party, though, was the ceremony. Chelsea Town Hall is one of London’s most iconic buildings for couples to wed, and its walls have seen various stars say “I do” through the years, including Judy Garland, Sharon Tate & Roman Polanksi, and Mar Bolan. Lorraine & Mac’s wedding was an intimate celebration with just their closest family and friends who had travelled from all over the world to share the day with them. Lorraine was supported by her closest female friends, including Nix, with whom she goes waaaay back, and who had travelled from New Zealand. With Mac’s daughter as their ‘best woman’, there was a strong all female supporting cast! My day started at Chelsea Town Hall, where Mac greeted their friends, before walking into the ceremony hand in hand with Lorraine. The ceremony was emotional, but not without humour, most notably when Lorraine had to borrow some glasses in order to read her vows. After confetti on the iconic steps, it was a short journey to the Cadogan Hotel on Sloane Street where there was champagne, canapés and a Rat Pack crooner, before dinner in a beautiful and elegant private dining room. Speeches were funny and touching. Most of the people in the room have been friends with Lorraine and Mac for many years, so there were stories from their oldest friends, a few tears and a lot of laughs. The evening continued with the cutting of the (cheese) cake, more champagne and some dancing. Lorraine and Mac’s wedding was intimate and honest, and a privilege to be a part of.
