Stoke Newington Town Hall Wedding // Jeannine & Anthony
This was a quintessential London celebration; a Stoke Newington town hall wedding, a pub for the reception and an art hotel for the late night shenanigans. My day started where it ended, at the super cool Green Rooms, an art hotel and social enterprise space in Wood Green. Jeannine got ready there, and with family, friends and groom Anthony getting ready there too, the corridors were a hive of activity. Dresses on, buttonholes in place, and prosecco drunk, it was all aboard Routemasters and taxis to head down to Stoke Newington. I photograph Stoke Newington Town Hall weddings quite a lot, and I love the place. Art Deco is a favourite style of mine, and the design and tones of the town hall is just gorgeous. It never seems to look the same, and depending on the light, the time of day and the time of year, it can have a totally different feel. Jeannine was walked down the aisle by her two brothers, and the couple’s little daughter Betsy was in charge of the rings, so the ceremony had a beautiful and intimate feel to it.

Out into the spring sunshine for confetti before heading down the road to The Cellars, a fantastic Victorian pub which has been restored to its former glory. Despite it being the beginning of April, it was a gloriously sunny day and unseasonably hot, so everyone was able to drink outside and make the most of the weather. Canapes and shots of Bloody Mary were enjoyed before sitting down to some seriously good food and some seriously funny speeches. The party didn’t end there, and a G&T fuelled bus ride transported everyone back to the Green Rooms where Paul Middleton’s Angst Band provided some very un-weddingy but completely brilliant music. It’s no secret that I love London weddings that take this format; town hall ceremony followed by a pub reception. They tend to be very laid back affairs for very laid back and lovely couples, and provide such a great environment for my style of documentary wedding photography. Jeannine and Anthony’s Stoke Newington Town Hall wedding was a creative, warm and family orientated celebration, and a real pleasure to be part of.
“Goodness me Lyndsey….we had very high expectations of what we would receive from you. You have surpassed our expectations ten fold. We are both aghast at the quality, character and number of photos you’ve provided.

I don’t quite know how you manage to capture so much…on your own. Absolutely outstanding. You are so clever.
You’ve really captured the magic of the day….and we get to relive it. Thank you so much.”

Definitely the true essence of an authenic London wedding here. Editing is bang on once again, loved the sheer amount of rebellious kids in this one, its v nice to see a slightly older couple get the works for their wedding photography, the light on the brides face during the ceremony was perfect. Great to see so many shots of people being themselves unphased by your presence, almost as if you are not there. You are relentlessly on the lookout for all sorts of characters and relationships, definitely a lesson i will be taking with me. You have a new fan today.
Fantastic work as always!
So many great moments there. Love all the shots with the kids!
