Old Greens Barn Wedding
An Old Greens Barn wedding in Newdigate, Surrey. Chaeli and Neil had planned a day focused around family, friends and good food in the rustic setting of the old barn. They hadn’t planned for apocalyptic skies and rain of biblical proportions, but they got it anyway. It didn’t dampen the mood, if anything it added to the joyousness of the occasion.
Chaeli got ready at The White Horse hotel in Dorking, and travelled to the church, St Peter’s in Newdigate, in Marsha, a beautiful powder blue Beetle. By the time she arrived, the weather, which had been looking ominous, look a turn for the worse and the short dash from the car to the church door was more like paddling than walking. The church ceremony was short and sweet, and the beaming couple left the church in a volley of confetti and raindrops. Marsha was waiting for them, roof down, and then roof up as the rain came again. By the time we got to Old Greens Barn it was hammering it down. Guests arrived drenched, but laughing, ready for champagne and canapés. Twenty minutes later the skies were clear and blue and the sun came out. Crazy weather.
Dinner was followed by speeches, and that in turn was followed by cake and dancing. Only a few days after the longest day of the year, it stayed warm and light well into the evening so the drinking games and general merriment carried on outside, aided by the fish and chip van and a beautiful sunset.
A relaxed day with Chaeli and Neil and their families and friends. Two happy people who are wildly in love make my job easy, and these two were brilliant to spend time with. Favourites from their Old Greens Barn wedding are right this way…
