Moreton Hall Wedding // Alice & Paul

One hot day last August, I headed to the pretty market town of Bury St Edmunds to photograph Alice & Paul’s Moreton Hall wedding. The ceremony was taking place in the local Catholic church, St Edmund King & Martyr, before a reception in the grounds of Moreton Hall Prep School. It was a big wedding, with over 400 guests, including 80 children, so I took along fellow photographer James Davidson to second shoot with me (and I have used one of his images in this blog post – pictorial evidence that I double as a flower girls’ shoe carrier as well as a photographer!)

Alice and her family had the top floor of the lovely Angel Inn in which to get ready. I split my time between here and a family friend’s a few streets away who had bravely volunteered for the flower girls to get ready there. All 10 of them… Once everyone was ready, we headed off to the church for the ceremony. Paul is a collector of vintage cars, and four of his prized possessions had starring roles in the day. A mint green Commer van in which to escort the flower girls, and 3 gorgeous vintage Citroens, including one in royal blue which was the wedding car.

Ceremony done and dusted, everyone made their way to Moreton Hall. The weather was perfect, and for the next few hours the Pimms and Champagne flowed, canapés were enjoyed, the kids ran around and the band played some jazz and swing. A glorious afternoon. Speeches took place outside in the late afternoon sun, before a huge informal buffet inside the marquee.

The dance floor was full long before the first dance, with movers and shakers of all ages. The band were excellent and the party atmosphere was brilliant, a perfect end to a lovely wedding day.

  1. Great coverage of a wedding. So many great moments captured. Every seems to have had a great time, especially on the dance floor.
