LYTHE HILL HOTEL WEDDING // ANDY & JASON
A Lythe Hill Hotel wedding in the lovely Surrey Hills countryside on the blog today. And not just any wedding, but that of my dear friend Andy and his soulmate, Jason. They had planned the wedding from Amsterdam, where they were living, and had family attending from all over the world. It was a very special weekend with all of their favourite people in the same place, possibly for the one and only time, as they were moving to New York shortly after the wedding. The weekend started with a relaxed family dinner on the Friday night, and continued on the Saturday with the wedding. As guests gathered, the nerves/excitement mounted. Andy was walked in to the ceremony room on the arm of his sister, Vicky, who’d made the journey over from New Zealand despite being over 7 months pregnant. Jason followed on the arm of his mum. A touching ceremony, with tears (Jason’s sisters) and laughter (how can you not laugh when the registrar closes the ceremony by asking everyone to “give a big hand for our newlyweds, Andy & Steve”?! ) and a lovely reading by Jason’s goddaughter (who read more beautifully and eloquently than most adults). The ceremony ended to much whoops and clapping, and two very happy grooms.

The afternoon passed with drinks and games for the kids, before a lovely dinner and some speeches. More guests arrived in the evening, and ever thoughtful, Andy and Jason had saved the main speeches for then so everyone could be a part of it. The cake was cut and the party started; wigs, inflatable guitars, plastic flamingos, and lots of dancing.
