Wedding Photography at Chelsea Town Hall and Bluebird – Gillian & Mike

A modern London wedding; a ceremony at Chelsea Town Hall followed by dinner at Bluebird on the Kings Road, attended by the couples’ closest family and friends. Mike got in touch with me a few weeks before the wedding to see if I was available to photograph their London ceremony on Thursday (I was) and the weekend party in The Cotswolds (I wasn’t, being booked not too far away at Sonia and Justin’s Old Luxters Barn wedding). On the wedding day, I arrived at Number Sixteen, the boutique townhouse hotel where Gillian was getting ready. With a choice of beautiful shoes (she opted for the gold snakeskin Jimmy Choos) and a sleek and elegant Chalayan dress, she was raring to go. Eschewing the traditional set up, Mike met Gillian at the hotel and they had a cocktail together in the honesty bar with their nearest and dearest before heading off to Chelsea Town Hall.  The ceremony was short and sweet and featured a reading of John Cooper Clarke’s ‘I Wanna Be Yours’ and an over excitable bride. After a few photos on the famous steps, it was on to  Bluebird for champagne and canapés, with late afternoon sunlight filtering into the private dining room. The wedding party sat down and the speeches began, and as dinner was served I slipped away. Some favourites from Mike and Gillian’s London wedding are below
